Your Dead Laptop Battery needs to be revived

Your Dead Laptop Battery needs to be revived

A lot of people have a wrong idea about laptop battery maintaince. They add new life to your NiMH or NiCD laptop battery by placing it in a tightly-sealed plastic bag and freezing it for 12 hours. If you have a Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer battery, however, freezing it is actually dangerous. Instead, consider doing a battery calibration, which will both restore and prolong your battery power. While these methods won’t make your battery as good as new (you may only gain about thirty minutes of extra charge time from an older battery that no longer holds a charge), they will help you get the most of your laptop battery until you can buy a neW one

Reviving a NiMH or NiCD Battery in the Freezer

1
Determine if you have the right type of battery for this method. First, this method won’t work for Macs, as they all have lithium batteries. Your laptop battery has to be NiMH or NiCD in order for this method to work. If you do this method with the wrong battery, the battery will likely be destroyed.
Turn the computer off, then open the battery cover (typically on the bottom of the laptop). If the laptop battery says something like Li-ion, Li-on, Li-ion II, Lithium, LiPo, you do not have the proper battery for this method.
If you are unable to read the text on the battery (perhaps it rubbed off), call your computer manufacturer to find out, or use a different method.
If your NiMH or NiCD battery no longer holds a charge at all, this method may only get you an additional 30 minutes or so of laptop battery charge capability, which is much better than 0 minutes. If the battery is simply draining too quickly, you may be able to get better results with this method.
2
Remove your NiMH or NiCD battery. With the computer turned off, gently remove the battery from the laptop. The laptop battery should come out without having to use much force.
3
Place the battery in a sealed plastic bag. Any high-quality sealable bag will work. It’s important to make sure the bag is completely sealed and contains no holes.
4
Put the bagged battery in the freezer for about 12 hours. Don’t leave the laptop battery in there much longer than that, as freezing it for too long could cause it to explode.
5
Remove the bag from the freezer. Take the laptop battery out of the bag and let it warm up to room temperature, drying it occasionally with a towel if it appears damp. Let the battery warm back up to room temperature for up to 30 minutes before continuing.
6
Put the battery back into the laptop. If there is a cover that goes over your laptop battery, slide it securely into place as well.
7
Connect the laptop to a power source. Without turning the computer back on, plug the machine back in to a power source and leave it this way overnight (or for several hours during the day).
8
Drain the battery. To drain the battery quickly, it’s best to turn the computer on, unplug it from the power source, and do something system-intensive, such as watching a video with the screen brightness turned up.
9
Charge and drain your laptop battery again. Do this step at least twice, but preferably 4-5 times. Once you’ve followed these steps, your formerly-dead battery should now hold a charge for a least a half hour, hopefully more.

Re-calibrating Any Laptop Battery

1
Determine if this method is right for you. This method will work for any type of laptop battery. Re-calibrating the battery fixes issues where the battery meter on your laptop no longer appears accurate. It also does a complete discharge and recharge, which can add extra life to your laptop battery.
2
Charge the battery to a 100% charge. It doesn’t matter whether the computer is off or on for this step, but you’ll need to have the computer turned on eventually to know whether or not the battery has reached a full charge. Once the battery meter reaches 100% leave the computer plugged in to the power source for two more hours
3
Drain the laptop battery. Disconnect the laptop from the power source and drain the battery completely. You can speed up this process by using the computer to do something system-intensive, such as watching a movie or editing video.
4
Leave the computer unplugged for 3 to 5 hours after the drain. This will ensure that any phantom power is fully drained from the unit.
00001.
5
Fully charge the battery. Charge the battery back up to the 100% mark. At this point, your laptop battery has been recalibrated

Performing a Full Recharge

1
Decide whether this method is right for you. Doing a full recharge will work on any laptop hardware, no matter the battery type. Try this method if your battery is draining more quickly than it used to.
2
Completely drain the battery. Even if the computer is turned off, the battery may still have enough charge to power the LED power light. You'll know the battery is completely drained when the power light no longer blinks.
3
Charge the laptop battery with the computer turned off. Plug the computer back in to begin the charging process, but don’t turn the computer on. If the computer turns on without your prompting, shut it down right away.
4
Leave the computer charging (and turned off) for 48 hours. Don’t turn the computer on for the entire 48 hour charging period.
5
Turn the computer back on after 48 hours. The laptop battery should now be able to hold a charge better than before.
Different methods are used for different laptop batteries,,master these methods ,no matter what problems we can solve.

4 secret ways to revive any dead phone battery

4 secret ways to revive any dead phone battery

With mobile phones now widely used across almost every age group, phone battery is also  widely used ,people increasingly experience diminishing standby times following prolonged use.

But why does this occur? It's primarily caused by the quality of the phone battery. This is why maintenance of your phone battery is crucial to improve longevity, but it's never too late. In this practical guide, I will highlight the main methods to easily and quickly prolong your battery's lifespan.

Method 1: Wipe and clean your mobile phone

After long term use, the metal surface of the lithium battery and even the contacts can suffer from oxidation. This may shorten the lifespan and effectiveness of the lithium battery. Carefully and routinely remove any residue/rust that has built up to ensure the battery has a clean contact with the phone.
To do this, gently wipe the metal contents of the battery and your mobile phone with a suitable cleaning tool. This also improves recharging efficiency and the battery use duration.

Method 2: Bring a dead battery back to life by freezing

Lithium reactions in batteries work using a charge-discharge process in which positive and negative electric charges collide with each other. Under normal room temperature, the kinetic energy is relatively sizeable, however as the battery is maintaining an active/ready state, electric leakage can frequently occur. However, under low temperature conditions, the lithium coating on the battery's surface, along with the electrolyte micro-structure and the interface will be significantly altered leading to a temporary inactive state that minimizes electric leakage. This extends the phone battery's lifespan allowing it to be recharged across more cycles.
Step 1:
Wrap your ageing phone battery in old newspaper and rewrap it with plastic film 2 times. Alternatively, place the phone battery inside a tightly sealed plastic bag that prevents it from getting wet.
Step 2:
Place the battery in the ice compartment of your fridge, and take it out after 3 days.
Step 3:
Remove the wrapping and place the battery in cool location away from direct sunlight for 2 days.
Step 4:
Insert the battery into your phone but don't power on your device. Instead, plug the phone into the proper charger and allow the device to charge for 48 hours.
After the device has charged for 48-hours, turn the device on and check the phone battery power level. If successful, this method will have revived your previously dead battery allowing it to hold a charge again.

Method 3: Try jump starting the battery

This method is generally effective for mobile phone batteries that have either reached their lifespan limit or have been left discharged for a long period of time; they eventually lose their ability to hold a charge. In fact, this can also occur to a phone battery during long distance shipping, due to the travel time from one country to another. But now you can learn how to resolve the issue yourself.

Before doing this, you will need the following:
    • 9V battery, for its easy-to-access terminals
    • A length of split wire to connect to the battery
    • Electrical tape to secure the wire
    • The battery itself

Step 1:
The positive and negative terminals on the 9V battery will be clearly marked. Identify them and connect the corresponding side of your wire to each terminal, being sure to cover the connection with electrical tape for safety.
Step 2:
On your cell phone battery, the positive and negative terminals will also be marked. Connect the wire to these as well, remembering again to secure with electrical tape.
Warning: Don't connect a positive side to a negative side.
Step 3:
Leave the batteries connected for between 10 to 60 seconds, or just long enough for your cell phone battery to get warm. Monitor the temperature and time closely.
Step 4:
As soon as the battery becomes warm, disconnect the batteries immediately. DO NOT try to fully charge your cell phone battery this way. Place the battery into your phone. You may need to charge the battery the rest of the way as normal, then try to power on the phone.

Method 4: A small bulb may help

Fully discharge the ageing battery and recharge it to activate it. By doing this kind of deep discharging, the aim is to prime the battery for deeper recharging by fully draining out internal energy first.
You will need 2 pieces of wires here and connect it to the positive and negative pole of your phone battery.
Following this, connect your phone to a 1.5V small bulb.
Any residual power contained in the battery will be transferred to the bulb until it has been fully exhausted.
Note: the bulb light will gradually grow dimmer until there is no light emitted. This method is not the most effective, but it works to some extent.

Actually, the best method is daily care. You should adhere to the standard charging procedures and times as close as possible, it’s better to do this during the initial 3 times, and ideally from the first time. When your phone shows the low battery warning, try your best to charge it immediately.
Finally, avoid charging your phone overnight, even if it's a habit, due to the impact that unstable charging voltage can have on your phone battery.
These methods teach you how to maintan your mobile phone battery ,hope to be useful to you.
